Hermle reports strong growth in turnover and earnings in 2016
Dividend to rise from 10.85 euros to 12.85 euros per preference share Normalization of incoming orders
Gosheim, 22 March 2017 – Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle AG performed considerably better than expected in 2016: According to preliminary figures, the Swabian machine tool manufacturer’s group turnover rose to around 394 million euros (previous year: 356.6 million euros). This reflects the fact that Hermle benefited from large-scale projects and recovering markets in southern Europe. Gains were made both at home and abroad.
The end-of-year financial statement, not yet confirmed, reports a substantial increase in the group annual profit from 59.2 million euros to over 73 million euros. In view of this unusually marked development, the executive board recommended today that the supervisory board propose a dividend increase at the general meeting to be held on 5 July 2017: The shareholders should receive the same basic dividend of 0.80 euro per ordinary share and 0.85 euro per preference share, as well as a bonus of 12.00 euros per share (previous year: 10.00 euros). This would mean an increase in the disbursement for a preference share from 12.85 euros to 10.85 euros).
The good business results are essentially the achievement of the highly motivated and competent employees. Therefore those employed by the Hermle AG are, once again, to receive a bonus of 70% of a monthly salary plus a fixed lump sum following disbursement of the dividends. At the end of 2016, Hermle employed 1018 people across the group of companies (previous year: 977).
As expected, demand settled down during the course of the year following a dynamic start to the 2016 business year. According to preliminary calculations, incoming orders for the Hermle Group increased to around 364 million euros for the full year (previous year: 360.7 mill. euros). The increase was approximately the same for the domestic and foreign markets. Towards the end of 2016, the order volume reduced to around 93 million euros (previous year: 123.2 mill. euros), indicating that 2017 will see a return to more normal business conditions.
Hermle will publish comprehensive figures for the 2016 financial year as well as a forecast for 2017 at the end of April 2017.
